I am pleased to introduce the latest addition to our little Gillingham family; world meet Chester! This little cutie pie is a fluffy ball of energy. We recently discovered that she LOVES Smart Food white cheddar popcorn which just happens to be one of our favourite treats. She loves to sit in the most inconvenient places such as the middle of the kitchen floor while I cook, and on my keyboard when I'm trying to get work done. This little fluff ball has become the queen of the house and can get Matt and I to do just about anything for her... Talk about a spoiled kitty!

Chester hates selfies (yes, I take a lot with her), but thankfully she cooperated for long enough to get these sweet baby photos. If you hadn't picked it up on it yet, I really am smitten with this kitten!

Here come the selifes!

Sunset sessions are one of my favourite, and man... Golden hour looks good on this girl! I met Julie during our time studying at the Kodály institute in Hungary. I was thrilled to be able to capture this gorgeous lady's infectious laugh and beautiful smile! When I was little I always dreamed of having hair like Arielle from the Little Mermaid. Julie brought those dreams back to life for me!

Julie's portraits are still some of my favourite's from my time in Kecskemét. Below are a few highlights from our session on the town!

Laura's Henna Maternity

I recently had the opportunity to work with Halifax Henna during this beautiful mama's maternity shoot. Watching Chelsea work her henna magic was AMAZING! I can't get over how quick the ladies at Halifax Henna can churn out beautiful henna designs. These ladies offer so many different types of henna, I would highly recommend checking out their website and booking a session, you can't go wrong with a little bit of summer henna!

Laura is one of the owners of Serpentine Studios, a belly dancing studio in downtown Halifax. They have recently moved to a new location and we took advantage of their new studio space during our shoot; I loved the gorgeous henna wall and amazing lighting! It was a pleasure to capture this beautiful mama as she experienced the final stages of pregnancy. Her beautiful baby boy Xavier made his first appearance on April 3, 2017, what a wonderful way to begin spring 2017!

Below are a couple of my favourite photos from our session together.

One of my favourite things about Halifax is being near the ocean! I love being able to walk down to the harbour, or jump in the car and head out to the beautiful beaches. Lawrencetown Beach is one of my favourite spots we have discovered, and I couldn't think of a better spot for a portrait session!

Shaeline and I hopped in the car one beautiful Monday afternoon, kids in tow, and drove out to the beach for our golden hour session.  This woman is gorgeous inside and out. She is a fantastic mother, photographer and friend. I am so thankful that we met on this crazy adventure and became friends!

Check out her beautiful work at Shaeline Faith Photography!

Florida Family Vacation!

Florida Family Vacation!

Sunshine and family are two of my favourite things, and that's exactly what our vacation was filled with. At the end of February Matt and I hopped on a plane to Florida where we met my family for a week of sunshine, canoeing, Disney, family, and fun.

We started out the week by heading down to Juniper Springs National Park for a day of canoeing and swimming. On our trip we saw a whole lot of turtles and a ten foot crocodile. We narrowly escaped the croc and continued down the winding river!

Cocoa Beach was the next stop on the road. We spent the day soaking in the sunshine (by that I mean getting burned) and swimming in the ocean. On our way out we took a stroll down the pier, where we discovered we had been swimming about a hundred feet away from a group of three sharks... Yikes! Thankfully no one was eaten.

We spent the next couple days hanging out at Disney World & Universal Studios. Matt was thrilled to meet some of his heroes including storm troupers and the grinch.

A day of rain called for an indoor activity so we checked out the Florida Science Centre.

And that brings us to our last day in Florida. We drove down to see the manatees and then made our final stop at St. Pete's Beach where we spent the whole day swimming and sunning. We stayed until sunset so we could take advantage of the view.

That brings us to the end of a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by and checking out a little bit of our vacation!

This session is bringing me back to warmer summer days and beautiful golden hour sessions. Here in Halifax we are in the midst of a white out snow storm, and I cannot think of a better way to warm up than to reminisce about gorgeous summer days and family snuggles!

I love shooting family sessions and this beautiful family was no exception! The girls planned our family session as a mothers day gift, what a wonderful way to celebrate their beautiful mom and their family! We met at the Edmonton Legislature grounds and spent a sun filled afternoon telling corny jokes and laughing at each other.

Below are a few of my favourite shots from our session together!

Shooting married couples is one of my favourite things. I love being able to glimpse into the lives of couples that have made it past initial stages of marriage. It allows me to see a different kind of love than couples who are just beginning their journey together; a love that has matured and grown with the trials and tests of time.

I met Alvin & Pei Wen while studying music at the Kodály Institute in Hungary. This beautiful couple is the embodiment of what a wonderful marriage should look like. They are compassionate, supportive, loving and they welcome everybody they meet in with open arms. I am fortunate to call them friends!

Check out a few of my favourites from our anniversary photoshoot in Kecskemét, Hungary!

2016 in Review

Wow! Another year has passed, where has the time gone... This year was full of travel and exploration, as well as another big move. Matt and I are happy to be able to say that we have finally settled down (for now...) in the beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. We have loved taking in all that the city has to offer, including being by the ocean. I love the ocean!

This year was also filled with new and exciting steps for Bailey Gillingham Photography, including my very own website! I was honoured to be able to capture so many special moments this year, 35 to be exact! From first year celebration sessions to weddings, I enjoyed each and every moment that I got to spend with the fabulous people who put their trust in the hands of me and my camera. Thank you to each and every one of you for letting me share in your journey. I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for Bailey Gillingham Photography!

Below you will find some of my favourite images from 2016!

Sending love from my family to yours!

Taking portraits for musicians always makes my day. While I shoot, I always ask them to play me something to help them relax, which means I get a private concert put on by a wonderful musician!

Mariana was no exception. She was preparing for her piano recital, which meant she had a multitude of beautiful pieces just waiting to be practiced. Mariana is an amazing pianist, and an equally amazing woman. Although we only had a short amount of time to capture her portraits, her radiant personality was present in each and every moment I was with her!

This summer I worked with a number of wonderful photographers, one of those photographers was Amy from Red Tree Photography. I worked with her during Leo & Angela's wedding day at the Red Tail Landing Golf Club. We started our day with a first look and bridal party formals at the beautiful Devonian Gardens before heading to the golf club where they held their intimate ceremony and reception.

Leo & Angela were all practiced up for their Edmonton wedding after their celebrations in China with family and friends. Their special day went off without a hitch and was always ahead of schedule, leaving lots of time for the bride and groom to celebrate!

A huge thank you to Amy, as well as Leo & Angela for including me in the celebrations!

The Lady Behind The Lens

My first blog post! Wow, I thought this day would never come! The process of creating a website to share my work on has been a long journey that would not have happened without the support of my wonderful clients and my loving husband!
